Bryn Martin is an Assistant Professor of Biological Engineering at The University of Idaho Department of Biological Engineering. From 2012-15, Dr. Martin served as the first Director of the Conquer Chiari Research Center at the University of Akron. He completed his post-doctoral training from 2009-2012 at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology EPFL Laboratory of Hemodynamics and Cardiovascular Technology. He completed a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago focused on the biofluid mechanics of cerebrospinal fluid flow in central nervous system disorders (syringomyelia and Chiari malformation).
Dr. Martin's research interests include neurohydrodynamics of craniospinal disorders, intrathecal drug delivery, cardiovascular hemodynamics, in vitro and numerical modeling of cerebrospinal fluid, medical technology and devices. He is currently a principle investigator and co-investigator for a number of clinical research studies employing MRI, cerebrovascular ultrasound and medical instrumentation. When not in the lab, Dr. Martin's free time is enjoyed writing music and taking walks with his family.
